Ted Fisher holds a B.A. in Photography from California State University, San Bernardino, an M.F.A. from Claremont Graduate University and a Graduate Certificate in Documentary Media Studies from The New School. From 1997-2002 he was Curator of Digital Media at University of California, Riverside’s California Museum of Photography, curating exhibitions “Impromptu: Improvisation with Digital Media,” “Glass Membrane: Scanner to Screen,” “Depth Charge: Digital Anaglyphs,” “Full Circle: Digital Panoramas,” “Cuatro: Form & Light in Cyberspace,” and video programs “The Scan Project” and “The Dance Project.” He co-curated “Command Z: New Work in Digital Photography” for the Torrance Art Museum in 2007. He produced 32 episodes of the “Frugal Traveler” series for The New York Times, winning the Webby Award in the Travel Category for Online Film & Video in both 2008 and 2009. As a photographer, solo exhibitions include “In Heaven,” Brandstater Gallery, La Sierra University, Riverside, CA, and “One Hundred Thousand Portraits,” East Gallery & Peggy Phelps Gallery, Claremont, CA. Group exhibitions include “Portraits: Faces in Contemporary Society,” Creative Arts Center, Manhattan Beach, CA; “Coming Home,” Robert V. Fullerton Art Museum, San Bernardino, CA; and “L.A. Freewaves Celebration of Experimental Media Arts,” Los Angeles, CA. As a filmmaker, screenings include “All Sports Los Angeles Film Festival,” “Arizona State University Art Museum Short Film and Video Festival,” “Artsfest Film Festival,” “Big Sky Documentary Film Festival,” “Brooklyn Film & Arts Festival,” “Detroit Docs International Film Festival,” “Dokufest International Documentary and Short Film Festival,” “Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival,” “Melbourne Underground Film Festival,” and “Picture This Film Festival.”
